'Manners Fit for the Queen' Makes 'Book of the Week' on Book Review Blog

I am delighted to be able to share highlights from my first book review posted today on Phil Robinson's blog JeanieJeanieJeanie.co.uk.

Phil opened with the wonderful comment, ‘Manners Fit for the Queen is a superb example of what a children’s picture book should be.’

He went on to say, ’It is a tremendous book. Firstly it is humorous and tells a story which will engage any child’s attention and imagination because it is about issues that affect them in real life. But at the same time the book will make them laugh out loud, again and again.

Grownups will find the book entertaining too. That is very important when you have to read it again and again. And that will be expected of you with this book.

Picture books need to achieve many things to make them good picture books. One of the most important things is they should educate. Manners Fit For A Queen certainly does that. Sometimes in today’s world you do wonder if the teaching of old fashioned manners has been lost in the ether of modern day technology and social media. This book beautifully brings the teaching of manners back in to full focus.’

Phil also praised Sally Goodden’s illustrations noting that, ‘Sally Goodden’s artwork is wonderful with pictures that are so humorous and entertaining. They are so full of interesting detail that holds everyone’s attention. The illustrations will keep a child entertained even if they are not yet able to read the book.

On a personal note I particularly like her drawings of the Queen. Sally Goodden’s artwork is wonderful with pictures that are so humorous and entertaining. They are so full of interesting detail that holds everyone’s attention. The illustrations will keep a child entertained even if they are not yet able to read the book.

Anne Wan describes the Queen’s Garden Party as such a magical event. I would so love to go, but I’m not too sure my manners are good enough. But the book is just as good a treat.

I know you will enjoy it.’

I am delighted to have received such a warm review!
